Established in 2019, the Gwinnett African American Caucus- Democratic Party of Georgia is an organization focused on the political interests of African Americans in Gwinnett County as it relates to policies, legislation, representation and governing bodies. The mission of the GAAC is to encourage involvement and to educate African American Gwinnettians on issues impacting the group–providing a strong voice and representation within the party and throughout the entire political sphere.  We exist to help shape policies and platforms within the Democratic Party and to encourage further conversation and analyses on concerns of the African American community.

Along with our commitment to advocacy for African American causes and interests, GAAC is committed to lending support to other marginalized groups and communities when necessary. Within our commitment, we are vigilant in our efforts to ensure that those who serve Gwinnett in public office, operate with integrity and serve as a positive representation for the diverse county of Gwinnett.

We are an African-American Caucus consisting of dynamic, progressive and visionary Gwinnett Democrats. The commitment is large. The work requires diligence, but we are up for the task.

We always hear about the rights of democracy, but the major responsibility of it is participation.

As part of this commitment, the GAAC is fighting to empower African American citizens and address the needs of the community by pursuing interests and causes that include but is not limited to the following: 

• Encouraging the involvement of African Americans in Gwinnett County in the political process.
• Ensuring that Gwinnett County African Americans have a strong voice and representation within the Democratic party structure at all levels-county, state and national.
• Identifying and supporting Gwinnett County candidates who are committed to the concerns of African Americans in Gwinnett County.
• Ensuring that the Gwinnett County Democratic Party is aware of issues and policies that impact the African American community and ensure that the party takes all appropriate public positions and actions to support the country’s African American community with respect to such issues and policies.
• Encouraging and support the candidacy of Gwinnett County African Americans for political office at all levels, with special emphasis on political offices within Gwinnett County. 

Our Vision is to create an African-American Caucus membership of dynamic, progressive and visionary Gwinnett Democrats. To create a growing youth movement of young Democrats, all committed to help advance African-Americans in labor, community, leadership, entrepreneurship, and to foster the ideals and values of the Democratic Party.
